DMCA & Takedowns

indielist respects intellectual property and responds to valid takedown requests. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes your rights, and how to dispute a removal.

1. Factual data and fair use

The directory presents factual information about games, studios, and publishers — titles, descriptions, release dates, prices, review counts, and similar — sourced from public APIs and pages. We treat this factual catalog data as fair use, we link to original sources, and we do not redistribute third-party game assets such as screenshots, trailers, or audio. If your concern is factual data rather than a copyrighted work, the contact page is the fastest route.

2. Filing a takedown notice

If you are a rights holder (or authorized agent) and believe material on indielist infringes your copyright, send a notice through our contact page including:

  • identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  • the exact URL(s) on indielist where the material appears;
  • your name, organization, and contact details;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

We will review complete notices promptly and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material.

3. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice with equivalent detail: identification of the removed material and its location, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal was an error, and your consent to jurisdiction as required by applicable law. We may restore the material if the original complainant does not pursue the matter as the law provides.

4. Repeat infringers

We may suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the rights of others.

5. Misuse

Filing a knowingly false notice or counter-notice may expose you to liability. Please make sure your claim is accurate before submitting.

6. Contact

Send notices and questions through the contact page.
