indielist ("we", "us", "our") publishes a directory of games, studios, and publishers. To keep the core catalog free, we monetize in part through affiliate links to game storefronts. This page is our plain-language disclosure, in line with the U.S. FTC's Endorsement Guides and equivalent rules elsewhere.
1. What an affiliate link is
When a game profile shows a "Where to buy" panel, some of the store buttons (currently Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Humble Store, and GOG.com) are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy something, we may earn a small commission from that retailer. You pay the same price — the commission comes out of the store's margin, not your wallet.
Steam buttons are shown for reference and price comparison only; we do not earn a commission on Steam purchases.
2. It does not change what we publish
Affiliate relationships never change the facts in the directory or the numbers our white-box sales estimator computes. We do not rank, hide, or describe a game differently because a store pays a commission. Prices shown come from public price feeds; the cheapest option is listed first regardless of which links carry a commission.
3. Paid placements are separate and labeled
Distinct from affiliate links, some listings are "Featured" paid placements. Those are always clearly labeled as such. See our Terms of Service for how paid placements work.
4. Outbound links
Affiliate buttons open the retailer's own site, which has its own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content, pricing accuracy, availability, or transactions on those third-party stores.
