Publisher finder for indie games

Find publishers with evidence-backed indie-game portfolio signals that may fit your game. Pick your genre, target platform, and the tool ranks tracked portfolios by shared evidence. Genre and platform signals are portfolio-derived, not publisher-stated preferences. An official submission route badge appears only when both an open status and a public route are on file; everything else stays unverified. It compares 1629 public evidence games across 260 publisher portfolios, entirely in your browser. Use it to build a research shortlist, then confirm every policy on the publisher's own site. The result is not a prediction of pitch acceptance. To control evidence quality and page weight, the matcher includes portfolios with at least three tracked games or an official open route. Portfolio inclusion does not itself classify a publisher as independent.

Portfolio-derived means the signal was counted from public games linked to the publisher; it is not an official preference. Official submission route means both an open status and a public route are on file. Unverified means indielist cannot confirm whether submissions are open. This shortlist does not predict acceptance or commercial fit; verify every policy at the source.

How to pick a publisher that fits

Start with portfolio evidence: games the publisher has already shipped in the same genre and on the same platform. Every match shows how many tracked portfolio games support that signal. Then check submission evidence: an official-route label means indielist has both an open status and a public submission URL or pitch email on file. Unverified means exactly that—it is not evidence that submissions are open or closed. Catalog size is only a tie-breaker. This tool does not use the current preferred-genre, preferred-platform, budget, deal-tier or contract fields as matching evidence.

Frequently asked questions

How does the publisher finder for indie games work?
It compares your genre and target platform with evidence from public games linked to 260 research-ready publisher portfolios. A portfolio enters the matcher with at least three tracked games or an official open submission route on file. Portfolio signals are derived, not official preferences. Matching runs in your browser and does not submit anything on your behalf.
How do I choose a publisher for my indie game?
Use the shortlist as a research starting point. Review comparable games in each portfolio, confirm the publisher's current submission policy on its own site, and assess your project against the publisher's published pitch guidance before contacting them.
Is the publisher finder free?
Yes. The matcher is free and needs no account. It uses the same publisher data behind every publisher page on indielist.
